Mr Papworth gained his M.I.C.E. through concrete durability research. Since then he has gained over 40 years of experience in concrete technology, durability design, and concrete inspection and repair consultancy. Mr Papworth’s main interest is as a Durability Consultant for BCRC, a role he has filled on some of Australia’s largest projects including tunnels, bridges, building, reservoirs, wharves and desalination plants. In 2014, he was awarded the Mohan Malhotra award for service to concrete durability. He was Chairman of the Concrete Institute of Australia (CIA) Durability Committee from 2010-2015, was Chairman of fib’s Commission 8 ‘Durability’ from 2016-2018. He is also joint convener for fib Task Group 3.5 on Forensic Engineering and sits on various fib task groups related to durability design.
