Joung has been actively involved in “Geotechnics” research and engineering practice throughout his professional career in the US and Australia. This has spanned over 20 years, covering working in both industry and academia, where he has experienced exciting and challenging hands-on work that has given him profound insight into geotechnical and mining engineering. Joung currently supervises 15 PhD candidates and has successfully guided 12 PhD and 1 master’s students to completion. He has demonstrated leadership by spearheading numerous industry- and government-sponsored projects while also providing consultancy services to mining companies. Joung has authored more than 60 journal articles, presented 18 conference papers and contributed to 7 technical reports.
