Matthias is a Civil Engineer and Materials Engineer from Germany. He has a strong academic background coupled with a proactive hands-on approach with over 20 years of experience in construction materials development and testing. Matthias is an expert in modern sprayed concrete technology and spray applied membrane waterproofing solutions. He has successfully trained and assessed hundreds of construction operatives in different countries. For 7 years he taught and trained industrial staff at Germany’s most recognized technical school for construction materials and geotechnical testing in Selb, Germany. For 3 years, Matthias has project managed and technically supported numerous concrete and fibre reinforced sprayed concrete customer trials and testing, fire tests, experiments related to tunnel backfilling as well as tests and applicators trainings on spray applied waterproofing membranes and other products. Matthias has been actively involved in various underground related trainings and seminars and has contributed extensively to the successful EFNARC nozzleman examiner certification scheme. He is also an active member of the ITAtech activity groups “Support – Sprayed Concrete” and “TBM Consumables” and contributed to the development of the ITA best practice design guideline for spray applied membranes. Matthias focuses on organizing the technical support network to all GCCT tunnelling and mining costumers as well as technical improvements and new product developments within the Normet group including the delivery of trials and training programs for sprayed concrete and spray applied waterproofing membranes, engaging all the skills he has developed.
