Xuanyu (Shane) is a PhD student studying at the University of Queensland, on research project “utilizing solid waste in shotcrete production”, under supervision of Dr Mehdi Serati. His research focuses on enhancing the sustainability of shotcrete by incorporating recycled materials like crushed waste glass as alternative aggregates. He investigates the performance of these materials, including their impact on mechanical properties, durability and thermal behaviour. His research aims to promote environmentally sustainable practices in construction while ensuring shotcrete meets the performance requirements for underground applications.
